Kibale is an extensive National Park, protecting a large block of rainforest that offers some excellent forest for bird watching. It harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates found anywhere in East Africa. Superb birds and primates combined with easy access, good infrastructure and a variety of interesting activities make this forest a worthwhile Uganda safaris destination. Many of the facilities are community based, thus providing the local community with the necessary revenue to keep their interest focused on the long-term protection of the area.
The area is mainly occupied by two tribes ie Batooro and Bakiga traditionally both tribes utilized the forest for food, fuel, building materials and medicines.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is in southwest Uganda. Leopards roam the Mweya Peninsula, which lies beside Lake Edward. Nearby Lake Katwe is a huge volcanic explosion crater. Boats on the Kazinga Channel float past hippos and Nile crocodiles. Chimpanzees inhabit the Kyambura Gorge. Trails lead to bat caves in the central Maramagambo Forest. The Ishasha area is home to tree-climbing lions and shoebill storks.
The park is undoubtedly Uganda’s most famous national park and traveler’s destination. The presence of varied bionetwork to mention the beautiful lakes, extensive savanna and fertile swamps hence making it the best place the big games, ten primate species of course including chimps, 600 bird species.
Situated close to mountain Rwenzori, the parks sites include several beautiful crates lakes that winding through the rolling hills, the panoramic display of the Kazinga channel with an awesome view of the hippos, buffaloes, elephants and several bird species lined up at the shores. With a continuation towards ishasha sector plains, another surprise of tree climbing lions resting on trees waiting to pounce on the Uganda Kobs and other preys will blow one a way.
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a biodiverse, mountainous area in southwest Uganda. It’s a home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families. In the park, rough paths weave amid dense forests, which are home to many butterflies and birds. The park contains both Montane and lowland forest and is accessible only on foot. The park is also UNESCO heritage site. The national park provides habitant to 120 species of mammals, 348 bird species, 1000 flowering plants, 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.
This park is also a sanctuary of many colobus Monkeys, chimpanzees and bird species. It has got over 340 mountain gorillas which is half of the world’s remaining gorilla population. There are also four habituated mountain gorillas groups which are open for tourism purposes, these include; Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura and the Nkuringo group. It is one of the excellent places in the world to explore mountain gorillas in their real natural life.
