Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
This is Uganda’s foremost tourist attraction and indeed one of the most fascinating wildlife encounters involving mountain gorilla tracking in the remote rain forest of western Uganda. These magnificent wild animals are found exclusively in Bwindi and Virunga conservation areas (home to roughly half of the world’s mountain Gorillas). Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of these giants is surely the most exciting and emotional wildlife encounter that Uganda has to offer, but we should not let it distract you from Bwindi’s broader biodiversity of over350 birds, 310 butterflies, 51 reptiles, and 120 other mammals including 11 primates, such as the black and white Colobus, common chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s Monkey, red-tailed Monkeys, and the well-known vervet Monkey.
