Akagera National park covers an area of 2500 square kilometers that is covered with savannah as well as beautiful scenery and also represents an African wildlife tour without the crowds and you visit Rwanda and this is park that should not be missed. On your 3 day safari to Akagera , you will spot over 500 birds, elephants, zebras, leopards, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, giraffes as well as sitatungas antelopes.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National park
This safari begins in Akagera National Park by 7 am and its Rwanda’s only savannah park. Along the way to the park, we shall stop in the village of  Nyakarambi to view how the Imigongo cow Dung paintings are also created by the Kakira Women Co-operative. There is also the art form that was created by Prince Kakira and was also used in decorating the houses using cow dung. This dung is also dried and then mixed with colors that are made from the organic material like the plants to create white and red paints. These paintings are also attractive and so vibrant in their colors.
In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip on Lake Ihema and you will spot the water birds that include the rare shoebill stork most of the time. You can also get chance to view the hippos, nile crocodiles, and many other land animals including the antelopes, elephants, buffaloes and many more.
Immediately, you will return to the lodge and then enjoy a sun downer on the deck of the lodge were you will also enjoy a comforting fire plus the sounds of the African wild.
Day 2: Game drive in Akagera national Park
Have breakfast and then take a morning game drive that will take around the park and the Rwanda Lake that will help you explore The Rwanda Lake where you will see the elephants as well as the buffalos along the way. We shall then have a picnic lunch and then continue for a game drive where you will view animals including; zebras, impalas, waterbucks, topis, baboons, giraffes, cape elands and many more. Have dinner and after have a nocturnal game drive where you will observe many creatures at night and hopefully view the leopards on the prowl on other nocturnal animals.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive, we shall return to Kigali having lunch along the way, you will check in at the lodge or be dropped at the airport for your departure flight. This safari can also be combined with gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park or chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National park.
