3 DAY LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK TRIP

With an area of 370 square kilometers, Lake Mburo National Park is the only Uganda National Park that contains an entire Lake and the nearest park to the capital city. The park is characterized with a varied landscape of open savanna and acacia woodland, seasonal and permanent swamps, forest and open water. The Park is a home to a number of wild game. These include among others; Burchell’s Zebra, Eland, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Impala. The park also offers a very good spot for bird watching.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1

In the early morning, our safari guide will pick you from your hotel of residence then you begin the journey to Lake Mburo National Park. A small Park in western Uganda but the most packed with faunas. Mostly the herbivores

You will drive through the western route and have to a stopover at Mpambire village in Mpigi  to meet the Buganda royal drum makers who craft the royal drums using methods that have been passed on from generation to generation.

After wards then you proceed with the journey and make another stopover at the equator which separate the world into two; i.e the southern and the northern hemisphere for you to take photos

After visiting the equator, your guide will then drive you straight to the Park where he will take you to the lodge where you will have your lunch, rest a bit as you warm up for the afternoon nature walk

In the early evening, you will go for a nature walk with the help of your guide to a specific are where animals spent most of their time licking the ground because it’s salty.

Return back to the Park for dinner and overnight stay at either Mihingo Lodge/Rwakobo Rock/Rwonyo Rest Camp.

Day 2

In the early morning, enjoy your breakfast at the lodge in the wilderness with lots of sweet hissing calls from different bird species. After your break the you go for the game drive to encounter with the peaceful animals who will give you their time for you to shoot photos. They are variety of animals that the Park harbors like the impalas, topis, herds of Burchell’s Zebras, buffalos, elands and the Roth’s child Giraffes among others which are commonly seen during their daily activities of grazing on the plenty of grass and vegetation at the Park

The Park is also home to over 300 bird species which will entice the trip for bird lovers, the commonly seen species are white-winged warbler, crested francolin, red-faced barbet, tabora cisticola, and the brown chested intra African migrating Plover among others.

After the drive you shall then be driven back for a lunch break, have some rest as you wait for the afternoon boat cruise.

In the afternoon, you will then go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will have opportunity to encounter aquatic animals like hippos, crocodiles and some animals which come to the lake to quench their thirst. There are also water birds like, king fishers, egrets, rare shoebill among others

After your whole day activities, the guide will return you to the lodge for dinner and overnight at either Mihingo Lodge/Rwakobo Rock/Rwonyo Rest Camp.

Day 3

On your last day in the Park, you will have your breakfast and go for a short game drive as you set off with your journey to Igongo cultural centre before you proceed with your journey to Kampala. At the cultural centre, your guide will guide you to different chambers of the site as you learn more about African cultures.

You will then proceed with the journey to Kampala and have a stopover at Masaka for a lunch break at a selected restaurant of interest

And if you are a lover of natural fruits, depending on the season, local farmers have plenty of them for sale as you drive along.

You then finally arrive at Kampala and conclude your 3 day trip to Lake Mburo National Park
